The fuse hasn't exploded, but possibly was replaced by a higher amperage number which caused the contacts to overheat and destroy the plastic around it. The fuse probably does the left parking/tail lights and trailer lights too.
While trying to ascertain why my reversing lights are not functioning, I opened the fuse box to discover a black hole where the number 6 fuse used to reside (RRC Vogue 1989 3.5 EFI Auto) Hopefully photos are attached of fuse cover and the fuse box. can anyone (rhetoric question) tell me what the fuse that's blown protects (protected) and if it is NOT the one for the reversing lights, which fuse is. All the symbols seems self explanatory other than the reversing lights. Google was no help either! But Google knows nothing compared to this forum!Thank you! Number 6 brown fuse

Have you checked it's not a simple case of connector falling off switch?
Or the slightly less simpler case of a dodgy crimp, on the above mentioned connector?
Also the switch itself?
Fuse 6 provides power for the LH side lamp, LH tail lamp and LH number plate lamp.
Fuse 5 provides power to RH number plate lamp, RH side lamp, RH tail lamp and all the illumination lights in the car via the light dimmer. (It also look like it goes to the radio illumination)
FUSE 13 (unlucky number) - REVERSE LAMPS LH AND RH. BUT it also provides power to the indicators via the flasher can. Also does the trailer reverse lamps. (Check your trailer plug.)
I'm with bee utey on this one. I'd say the fuse in was over rated. I just can't see in my manual what rating the fuse is meant to be. I'd guess 10 (red)-15 amps (blue).
I was always under the Impression, that the colours on the fuse description, was also the colour of the blade fuse that is required.
As Jazzman said, 10 = red, 15 = blue etc.
So fuse number 13 would be 15amps. (blue)
No problem. Happy to help out.
