    Park Brake Cable Adjustment.

Has anyone successfully adjusted the hand-brake cable on a later classic?

The brake itself is working fine, but the lever stroke is too high. Cable adjustment should be easy. Right?

Well I can see the cable (just) but don't have the space to get any tools to it. Looks like pulling the front drive shaft might be the only way to get access. But surely there is a better way?

I could be wrong but I thought that adjustment was dead easy on those. There should be a plastic spinner nut on the cable outer housing accessible after you remove the centre console top panel. I'll be fiddling with my mate's soft dash next Monday morning and could confirm the thought then.

It might have changed a bit over the years. This is a 93 hard-dash and with the centre bucket removed it shows a retaining clip for the end of the cable housing.

At the business end I can see a bracket which holds the cable end and this is supposed to have some adjustment (nuts either side of the bracket). But it's right above the snout on the BW transfer box. Just no room for my big hands.

Have you adjusted the brake shoes first?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Thanks, it appears to be the same as the RAVE info, just in one place.

It's also talking about an adjuster wheel. Clearly I need to take another look.

So that clip, is indeed an adjuster wheel.

It spun for ages in each direction with seemingly no change. Then I decided to wind it CCW until it either stopped or fixed it. Eventually it started tightening up.

On the hard-dash you can just get your finger tips to it by removing the bucket in the centre console and pulling up the air-hose to the rear foot air vents. You can get more access by removing the panel holding the window switches, but on mine at least it's a difficult panel to get the screws back into.
