    Yes its an improvement on the 308, but not the best v8 ever

    can you pull the commonbore harnesses and computer with it .... I think a lightweight alloy V8 with modern injection, plenty of torque would be a great onroad conversion. You'd just blow the **** out of all the drivetrain if you pushed it offroad in low range though wouldn't you .... You'd need to be gentle and not get carried away. Can you fit the 6spd manul commonbore gearbox though and jsut fit an adapter over the transfer case and run rover gear the rest of the way. In theory given the drivetain is built for running full power through it in low range, it should handle way more power onroad ... if towing big loads etc in high range...

    I always thought the old carby 3.5 was a low on power .... Having said that I'll be damned if it didn't haul the caravan back from Geelong yesterday sitting effortlessly on 100km/h the whole way back It's a **** of a trip towing from Geelong to Ballarat usually.... a bloody wind tunnel that blasts you back to the beach. Maybe I just fluked a tail wind for the first time ever
