Always worth trying Rimmer Bros. m
Range Rover Classic Parts & Accessories
Guys,
I've been thinking about replacing some interior bits. Stuff like carpets and wood trim pieces etc.... and then got to thinking about the centre console, which is really the only thing in the car that 'needs' replacing (it's ok but the vinyl is delaminating and the shifter surround was butchered in a past owners life and superglued to the outer vinyl).
So just wondering if you guys know the best place to source these bits.
Ideally a full wood kit, incl the dash bits & centre console inserts, and the door trim pieces.
then the carpets and those plastic screw fixings. There is not a real lot wrong with the carpets, but I have steam cleaned them already, and they are starting to look tired. Is it worth replacing them or should I simply have a trimmer make a new set up using the existing ones as a template? (if I did this I'm almost afraid of putting in carpet from wilton, which would be just silly).
Something about this car makes me want to preserve the 'Luxo-barge' that it undeniably is, and yet the other half of me is planning and costing the mechanical upgrades to soon take place.
Any good sources for trim would be appreciated. (i am aware of dept/interior consoles, and not really a fan).
thanks in advance-

Biggest issue is nowhere seems to have the colour. Or the trim fabric...
I'd like to get some new carpets, and the screw-plugs.
That includes the cargo space.
I wouldn't mind re-trimming some other bits - mind you there is nothing wrong with the trim per-se. Just thinking about preservation, but the main consideration here is if I am unable to obtain the cloth, then down the track I'll probably redo the seats in leather - but for me the car would lose a bit of it's charm. I have enough leather in the Merc's and I quite like the fabric in the RRC. It's very tasteful, and of good quality.
I'd love a new console & cubby mostly because the vinyl is delaminating and no amount of contact cement is going to rescue it this time.
More than that, I'd like new wood. The driver & passenger door strip are cracking / delaminating - and that presents an opportunity.
The centre console and dash do not have the wood trim, so it's a great time to redo the lot, if only the pieces which need replacing are done now, any later additional wood trim replacement pieces are not likely to match.
I saw this pretty cool picture somewhere on a range rover site, about a guy who completely rebuilt the dash on his RRC and retrimmed it in burl and brushed aluminium.- and while it's not quite my thing, it did look quite nice.
That's not what I am wanting to achieve though. I'm simply looking to replace parts with the OEM optional trim pieces where possible.
if those parts are not available (as it seems to be the case for the wood trim and carpets and cloth) then I'm going to have to look for alternative solutions which maintain the coherence of the interior trim.
Have a look this Centre Console Project
