Hello All, First Post.
I was very interested to see the photo of the First RR out in the bush. A Davos White Range Rover demonstrator was supplied by Leyland for a Sydney LROC trip to Webbs Creek on the weekend of 21 May 1972, and I assume this photo was taken on that weekend. At this time there were two Export RHD Davos White Range Rovers in Australia - 35600022A and 35600033A together with 35600037A in Massai Red - these were imported by Rover in the the name of the Pressed Metal Corporation, the Land Rover assemblers. One of the white cars was for the use of the British Consul and the other a demonstrator based in NSW along with the 37A. 42A in Bahama Gold was in possession of Faulls in Perth.
I now own 22A, and numerically, this is the first "official" car in the country, but at this stage I have not been able to discover whether 22A is the demonstrator beautifully pictured on the Sydney trip and posted here, or whether 33A was the demonstrator on the trip and 22A was the Consul's Car.
If anyone can shed light on this, and if there are more pictures from the Sydney club trip out there, I would appreciate seeing them. I have posted a picture of the same car taken at a quarry in Melbourne in the week prior to the Melbourne International Motor Show in March 1972.
Thanks, Ian
