I didn't plan to buy it, just had a wee look. Then its talons snapped shut and I couldn't get away.

On paper, it's a cracker - '93 LSE with a good service record and a new 4.6 short engine fitted 60K ago. A bit rough around the edges but that's what I prefer - coz I can guarantee it will get a bit scratched and bashed after a few high country trips.

The power from the 4.6 V8, extractors, and some tweaks is insane compared to my tired '91 3.9.

However, there's a wee issue with the electrics and possibly cooling, and hopefully someone has experienced them before and can advise:

1 - any idea why the central locking comes on when i hit the indicator switch or turn on the lights.......?

It passed a roadworthy but some electrics work (heater, lecky chair adjustments, 12v cigar lighter, inside lights, central locking, even heated seats) and some dont 'work (Lecky mirrors, radio, spot lights).

I knew there was an issue and adjusted the price accordingly. Apparently things went wrong after the heater fan seized/shorted, and some remedial bypass work was done.

2 - when i stop the car I can hear air escaping from the pressure valve in the expansion tank. I realise that the valve is supposed to let pressure out but when do you know if it's too much pressure in there?

I did a 30Km freeway test and it hissed for a minute after I stopped - no water was lost. Is this normal or do you think it's an indication of something blowing into the water?
