Correct - you could be opening a can of worms...

Donor vehicle would be much easier.

Have you ever driven anything with a torque flight fitted? I'm thinking of a big tin snail crawling up the roads unless it's also fitted with a minimum of a healthy small block chev. The wheezy 3.5 bolted upto a torque flight is going to be sooooo slllloooowwwwwww......

Haha yeah I had a rangie blue one with a 4.6 with one bolted to it and it was fine. Apparently if the transfer is a 1-1 ratio they are great. Or something like that either way a disco auto is fine

So I found a 90 model but noticed they don't have centre diff lock. Is it easy to just swap over transfers as this one is nicer inside and lower Klm so gear Box is nice

For strength the TF/727 is excellent BUT as mentioned they will sap takeoff power big time.

I have an 84/3.5 with a Torqueflite and even when it was in good nick engine wise the only way to make it "go" was to manually row through the gears as the Rover V8's just dont make enough torque to drive the auto and haul the weight of the Rangie.

The 4 speed Auto's were much much more drivable and the only reason I kept the TF box was for towing heavy loads long distance and again I manually shifted the box all the time.

Yeah been hearing this. I found a rangie with a 5 speed and bw tc however the clutch is sloppy and needs to be bled all the time. It's a 90 and the gears are different to mine reverse being to the left not right like mine Thinking get this and swap my parts to it
