No go after 2500 rpm Help!!

    Hi guys and gals

We have a 3.5 injected and when driving it won't rev higher than 2500 like its starving and no power. Where do we start the diagnosis.

    Thanks dan

I'm thinking transmission as when it gets to 2000 it serving the it revs to 3500 but doesn't feel like there is any go like it's slipping

A slipping slugomatic will allow the engine to rev freely, not prevent it revving

I'd start by going back to basics myself. When was the fuel filter last changed? Fuel pressure, timing, vac advance, plugs, leads cap etc....

If the ignition is way retarded it won't want to rev.

Put a timing light on the engine and see if the timing advances with revs. Undo the dissy vac line first.

Tee a 0-50 psi pressure gauge into the high pressure fuel line and report back on what it does at various loads.

Ok will do. Lead plugs timing filter all done last week. Timing he said was set at 6 degrees before but that doesn't sound right I thought they should be around 12

Are the leads put on correctly and it's not 180degrees out?

It's easy to mix up a couple of plug leads when there is 9 of them too.... write down the firing order and cylinder numbers and make sure the HT leads run through the right firing order ..... ( I noticed right away it didn't seem happy 'cos I'd mixed up the two back leads a few weeks back with I did the plugs, leads, rotor/dizzie cap on the one here). Helpfully there firing order and piston numbering is recorded nowhere I could see under the bonnet
