GVM of an RRC - some questions...

Been looking over the Classic and the data plates I can find don't seem to list a GVM for the vehicle. There is a plate with 4 numbers on it, but it doesn't say what each number is. They are - 2510, 6010, 1000 and 1510 - see attached image. Are these the GVM, GCM, max front axle load, max rear axle load?

I'm trying to work out what it may weigh bog stock standard, and what the GVM is, and the max axle weighs as the recent addition of the bull bar and winch has made the front much heavier, and I'm about to start fitting out the back for camping, including a water bladder so I want to make sure I'm all legal when I'm done.

So, any information regarding stock front and rear weights and if I'm correct in my guess about that data plate would be appreciated.

    Oh, it's an 86 4 door Hiline.

    Cheers.

    Hi Gav,

Haynes lists some very similar numbers:

    2504 kg GVM

6504 kg GVM with max trailer (4000kg) early model

    998 kg max front axle

    1506 max rear axle

    cheers, DL

Just be aware that AFAIK they never changed the tare when they became 4 doors.

AFAIR the tare was 1970Kg for a 2 door and this remained when they became a 4 door, even though they are quite a bit heavier.

And I note that my 2002 D2 TD5 diesel has a tare of , you guessed it 1970Kg.( on my NSW rego papers)

So just don't plan on weighing what you put in and adding to 1970Kg.LOL
    Regards Philip A

does the GVM include passengers? If so, and say the 4 door weighs - what - 150Kg more than a 2 door, so 2120Kg, and you put 5 people in the car that look like me, and it will be way over...

Has anyone had their vehicles weighed fully loaded ready to head off into the wild blue yonder? I, guessing there's a lot of people running around in technically overloaded vehicles?

So, with the new bull bar - 50Kg, winch - 30Kg, steering guard - 15Kg, me, the missus, 2 Pugs and a tank full of fuel, I'd pretty much be over....?

I'm guessing that I need to stick at least 300 to 400Kg in the back. Does the Plod pull up 4WD very often for a weight check? Is it even possible to keep everything under the GVM or does no one bother?

I can't even run it over a weigh bridge at the moment as I still can't shift that busted stud in the thermostat housing...

It was easy in the 101 as I had 1000Kg to spare and I never came near that, but this may be a whole different story.

Maybe I really do need that 6x6...

My Haynes manual is for RRC from 70 to 92 and has:

Kerb weight (Including oil, water and 5 gallons fuel) 1723kg

    GVM Front axle 998
    Rear axle 1506
    Total GVM 2504
    Maximum Payload 780kg

    Towing capacities
    4 wheel trailer 4000
    Trailer & vehicle 6504

Emergency use only - maximum speed 18mph (30kph)
    Trailer weight 6000
    Trailer & Vehicle 8504

NOTE: Included in these figures are 100kg (220lb) for fitting auxiliaries (eg. winches) which must only be fitted to the front of the vehicle

If you are going to drive the RRC full time, it might be time to lay off the scooby snacks and trim down :-)

That's interesting, and gives me more leeway... Until I turn off the bitumen.

It's only on club reg and will only be used a couple of times a month I think, but I wanted it pretty much ready to roll so I only need to chuck my clothes, food and Pugs in.
