    Steering Wheels and Dashmats

    Greetings,
Would anyone have any information on the type of aftermarket steering wheels for my 91 Classic.? An autopart company employee told me that a boss adaptor is not made for my application , neither does a dashmat...Any help greatly appreciated as i just cannot gel with the current wheel..

Thanks to everyone for such a great site and community.

Steering wheels and bosses are available from Exmoor in the UK. The 36 spline boss will fit early Range Rovers. . Not cheap though, but they are quality bits of kit. Not sure what other wheels may fit the boss kit, but if it's a standard size, then many other aftermarket wheels should fit the boss which is available separately.

Are they legal? I ask because I've seen the TV show Highway Patrol where Vic HWP have defected cars for not having a crash pad on the steering wheel centre and for having aftermarket steering wheels with boss kit.

re a dash mat, a quick Google found this: http://www.accessoriesonline.com.au/...cat=697&page=1

That's pretty funny Ron because an original 74 RRC wheel has a crash pad made out of solid plastic and metal. Even in 1981 its just plastic.

As for the boss....... I have a 77 with an aftermarket boss and wheel that is surplus to requirements. Dunno if the splines are the same on later models.

If the OP sends me a PM with contact details I can send some pics. Wheel and boss would be $50.

    cheers, DL

Don't know Ron, what model cars were getting pinged? As mentioned, even my mid 80's RRC doesn't have a padded centre standard. I can see the issue if an airbag wheel is removed in favour of one, but not if it never had anything like that, but who knows.

Cool! Make sure you post some pics when it arrives and you have it installed - I'm looking at getting one myself. Which wheel did you end up going with?

Anyone know torque settings for steering wheel nut? Looking to swap my standard for the Momo I got. If not it'll be tight enough.
