Well that's bizarre... I just re-assembled fan unit on the bench ............. quiet, dead silent ... how does it vibrate like buggery in the dash when the fans are so smooth and quiet. There is no vibration at all from the unit with the fans running flat out when sitting on the bench. I'll see if the heater fan switchs on low or similar and causes harmonics through the dash.

two units, both the same ...strange rightOh well, I'll try to line the plastic bits where it bolts up to the dash with foam ribbon. A/C is important in a car you wife travels in ...... probalby the most important thing (other than the car not breaking down
)

OK, forget what I said about the fans being vibration free.... I need to re-check. The battery in this car goes flat randomly with no warning. I assumed it was the petrol filler flap, if it's switch in left in the "open" position, it would drain the battery constantly ....
However I just went to drive it this morning and the battery is dead as a maggot. I wonder if it's randomly got two cells that short and drain it.
Anyway, I was probably testing the fans with only about 8volts..... I'll try again with ~14volts and see if they vibrate.

It's funny , I can't relate to your problem with vibration of the fans as mine in my 91 were absolutely fine, especially after I cleaned them with a vacuum and brush.
All they did was pump lots of cool air.
Although an aircon guy reckoned mine was a freak as it cycled while idling and was 4C at the vents.
Regards Philip A
Yep, Phillip is right. The fans are now really silent and don't even roar like most A/C fans (no vibration at all). They move a lot of very, very cold, refrigerated air too.
I bought in heaps of that foam tape to seal up the windows in my caravan. I placed a strip of it between all the plastic so they couldn't vibrate against each other.
The fan unit slots down onto two studs. On both cars this was missing the nut on the right side (it's hard to get to as the TX valve is in the way... it's also a very long thread on the stud). I reckon this could make it vibrate a lot where the plastic part joins the heater box.
