Who else is being driven bloody crazy by a right hand indicator that constantly cancels .... Really frustrating if you have a proper gearbox as you need to change down at the same time as your trying to hold the blinker on.
Anyway, the repair is quite simple.
Whip the switch out (it's straight forward, just remove the column shroud, unplug the wiring connections and squeeze the two clips in and slide it out). The arrows, you will need to push these tags in and wiggle the switch apart into two pieces (after removing the two small obvious screws).
It'll probably explode into a heap of tiny bits and springs. Don't panic, it's obvious where everything goes. The "T" shaped contact inserts into the spring where shown.
This is the other 3 springs with plastic lugs. Note: the big one to the middle and the outer two have the small cylinder shaped "rollers" sitting in the end (circled in red).
This is where the handle slots into with all the spring loaded bits. The plastic "knob" circled in blue is what the indicator stalk rotates on. The issue appears to be is this knob wears done slightly as does the hole in the handle that it recesses into. So you end up excessive slop in the indicator stalks pivot. Obviously building these up so they are a tight fit again will be quite difficult.
Back to these pictures. reassemble the stalk onto the lower half and move the indicator stalk through left/right turns and watch where the arrows point. The spring loaded cylinders roll through the plastic housing. Note: how compressed the opposite side roller becomes when you hold the indicator against the Right hand turn contact. It pushes so hard against the lever it pushes the indicator stalk straight back off.
Do Not Touch the self cancel mechanism, it isn't the problem.
The simple fix, the red circle. I used a sharp knife and shaved some plastic away from this area, this relaxes the force applied to the cylinder that rolls to here, and allows the indicator to stay on. The yellow parts I filed down slightly to allow the switch to swing slightly further (probably not required).
Slot the handle back in and test and verify you have slithered enough plastic away from where the red circle is. If you have the indicator stalk will lock into Right turn turn and stay there. Once re-assembled you will now have a blinker switch that works just like a brand new one
