Bit hard to know exactly what happened from the pics. But the lack of damage to the front corner above the indicator makes me wonder why the swivel housing was ripped form the diff??

To me at least, it would seem that it would need some very well directed and significant impacting energy to do that, especially when you consider all the attached parts which control the movement of the wheel.

UNless of course there is something pre-existing that was physically wrong - rusty bolts, incorrect tension/ spec, excessively loose swivel bearings.....

It looks like the pivots ripped out of the swivel in the first pic. bit hard to tell though. can you give us a more detailed picture?

Can you tell us exactly how it occurred?

Seems such a shame when the rest of the car looks pretty good still.

Looks similar to something that happened to me in my Ute (last year) with a truck but at opposite end of vehicle......I was driving on a two lane road (outside lane) almost to drivers door of a truck when he pulled across into my lane he didnt see me (his blind spot supposedly) .......

I slammed on the brakes turned in direction of truck (Lucy beak in road) and because I pulled up faster my LH Side rear corner of my aluminum tray (Ute) caught the rear right indicator protector (heavy square tube) on rear of trucks and pulled my vehicle around 180'....if (both vehicles) didn't come apart truck could have flipped my vehicle over.

Getting back to photo it looks like truck has come across rear right indicator protector has hit the guard (Rangie) between the guard and roo bar ... the Rangie has braked hard (nose has dropped) and caught bottom corner of protector (damage to corner of bonnet) then the trucks braked and the protector had caught the LHFront wheel and ripped it right back .....

Speculation I know ......so please do tell

    How Rosie was damaged..

Sorry guys for absence and inability to answer the questions.
She was actually a 92 with bits and pieces of a 91.My first RR i got her deceased estate 82 000 original miles.Drove her out of a RR enthusiasts place in Subiaco and at first wasn't a fan. Weird noises and stuff that did not add up to his tales of new repairs. Took her to Rovatech to get the once over and alas the call came. Head gasket gone , the new front end his mate did for 8k was half missing and so on..Virgin RR buyer with no research or knowledge i was at the crossroads...Problem was , the week i had her i was converted. Divorced a year , cash in bank it was an easy decision..3.9 Rebuilt, total front end rebuild, tyres and rims, exhaust done at custom exhaust in osborne park, new stereo system, windows tinted, etc, etc, she was almost brand new. Had wing tanks already, diff locks, heavy duty axles in back, dual batteries and other little bits and pieces I was in awe..Kev handed me the keys and said, get in and drive her , drive her everyday, they dont like to sit around these Rovers and that was it..Put my foot into her a little and thats when i heard that distinctive bark of a rover engine,i knew i would never own anything else but Range Rovers..Bit of a tale but she deserves an obituary..Just over a year she had 132 000 on her and never missed a beat. Exhaust was getting throatier as time went on and i can say without a doubt that of all the cars I have had, and i have tried them all Rosie , was the only one I ever loved driving everyday..On that fateful day i was heading up Rosewood ave after picking up my daughters from school, and as 10 and 6 year old sisters do, they fight, so in that split second i turned my head to remind them to ease up,a soccer Mum in Prado had left her car a half a metre of the curb, island with trees in middle of the road that split second i looked up and swiped it ....She pulled to the right and stopped..Kids were totally unhurt , a little shaken but Rosie took the impact well , i was unaware of the collapsed wheel and before anyone had noticed it I had already put her in low and tried to get her off the road and onto a vacant block to ease up the chaos. I am unsure , but it was probably me who totally destroyed the left front end worse than what it was after the initial impact but my girls were first priority and did recall pushing her til she wouldn't move anymore. We were all totally unhurt and my girls were already talking about fixing her 30 mins later.Insurance company did not think so and wrote her off..Went to the auctions to buy her back but when i looked at her she was different. I did not bid, but went and grabbed her steering wheel, the push button starter out of a 93 vogue and bid her goodbye..That is when i truly understood why, that little nod of acknowledgement that you get when crossing paths with another enthusiast, a little nod, a nod of recognition that we are both just enjoy driving the car that likes to be driven everyday..Sorry if it got long winded guys , i needed to tell the whole journey.

That was one of 3 designs i was playing with and had just fitted that one. 3mm ally i had trouble with the clearance as you close the bonnet.A little grinding and it worked ok,as it is attached on the outside of the housing it gets pretty tight. I had some mesh to go behind the holes and was fibre glassing side vents to match.I have not ever had any feedback from anyone before so Iam glad you noticed. The original plastic ones are a bit ordinary for me so i thought i will change the entire look.I was trying to make a mould for the centre console that incorporated some cup holders and hidey holes for change and stuff.
