2 barrel?
Have just got a rough 77 F two door, it’s has a 2 barrel carb and manifold. Does that indicate a P76 engine?

Maybe. What's the engine number? 2 barrel carbies on 3.5 engines were commonly fitted by anyone who hated the original side draft carbies.

Rover engine has its engine number next to where the dip stick tube enters the block, P76 has it behind the passenger side rocker cover, like 44xx/xxxx.

Rightio, found engine number on the block at the rear of left bank.
Is 42XXXXXX There are also some illegible (to old farts eyes) fainter numbers in what seems to be above the stamped numbers. Also has R10 and a C in the corner of stamping flat.
Buggar to read, be nearly impossible with engine intact along with heater hoses.
