They are power sockets, I think one of the switches is for the sockets and the other is interior light .
What are the 2 switch’s on the left hand side of the steering column below the stalks? There are also 2 plug type duvas below the switch’s, what are they for?

One switch is for your parkers and headlights, the sockets are live 12V for an accessory lead light, looks like this
I use mine to plug in the solar panel charger that lives on the dash.
The plug has a large and small hole but if you carefully drill out the small hole to the size of the large hole , you can use banana plugs like used on multimeters.

Bewdy, Thanks fellas
What year are we talking, my 81 had a small sliding switch near those sockets not the light stalk.

Year is 77, the 2 sliding switch’s are the ones I’m talking about. There are 2 stalks on either side of the Column as well.
One switch is for the interior lights, and the other is for the dash lights. Though I've never worked out why you'd want to turn off your dash lights . . . unless you're hunting?
The four stalks should be for headlights, wipers, fog lights, and combination signals/horn/flash/high beam. So I guess your mystery two should fit in there somewhere. Best to post a photo.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.
