Recently replaced this on mine, fairly certain it was 12mm ID. That said I didn't have much luck finding 12mm ID oil hose, but 1/2" works, if a little sloppier than i would have liked...
Bought for a few dollars from Pirtek.
I'm hoping the power steering fluid drip I have is because of the return hose.
Before I pull the hoses off and make an awful mess - what's the ID of the hose from the power steering unit (not the pump) to the reservoir?
I have some leftover transmission oil hose (8mm ID) that I'm guessing might fit...

Great. I'll get a length just in case.
I have another reservoir too - just in case - but it has a 6mm low pressure return - would it cause a problem if I put an in-line reducer (12->6mm) in the low pressure return?

I probably should have mentioned that mine is an 89 model, so i'm not sure if the earlier models would use the same size...
Adapting from 12mm to 6mm doesn't sound like the best of ideas to me, smaller hole for the fluid to pass through means it will have to speed up to get through it. This might cause some turbulence and aeration of the fluid in the reservoir (just a guess). I would think that if a 6mm hose would work then Land Rover would have fit a 6mm hose.
