Yeah I have and it was also doing it on that regulator, thus my decision to change to the rising rate with gauge.
Also, if I put brake line clamps on the vacuum and fuel return hoses, it still runs. It's only when I clamp the supply hose that it slowly dies out.
Left field, does anybody have a ohm spread on the throttle pot? I have 0.32v to 4.2v over the range, but can't find a resistance for it.
Worth a try. Just can't swap one out to see.

Should be nearer 4.8 volts on WOT.
One thing to look for is gaps in the carbon track Ie there should be a smooth transition from low to high voltage with no dropouts, best done with analogue meter if such a thing still exists. Usually they wear just off idle where they spend most time and cause a miss on "tip in"

Sounds like this could be the thing. After some more playing, swearing, listening and testing, I think the new ECU is good and the engine is leaning out when revved, thus the popping and carrying on. It might be the TPS as there seem to be gaps in the measuring.Quote:

One thing I do know though, is the old ecu has an issue.
Maybe there are a series of things that are making this happen.
So I replaced the TPS.. again with everything it gets smoother and a little bit better, but doesn't fix anything.
I took this video, so hopefully you can see where I'm at and make a suggestion.
Probably something stupid I'm not doing right or a fuse in under the back seat or something..

Yep can't get it to load. It's 37mb or something and I can upload 2.5..
Have you checked the resisitor pack contact to the rear of the LH head?
If you have a bad earth there it can cause all sorts of problems.

Ok so I pulled the dizzy apart yesterday and cleaned all inside and lightly wiped the weights over with WD40 on a rag, readjusted the air gap and tried to start, nothing.
Nothing all evening so I gave up and put the battery on charge.
Today I got it started finally and again, runs better. Played with the regulator to find a happy spot without popping and carrying on. About to put it back together and noticed in the craziness of my head I had forgotten to disconnect to battery charger. After unplugging it, the engine note changed. I checked the gauge and it was showing 2amps. 3/4amps if I revved it. Tested voltage and it came up at 13.6v.
Discounting the old ecu, what's the chance that a stuffed regulator could be causing the poor lean running? Forget lean even. The hard start and hesitation.
Battery tester shows 41% health or 295cca out of 500. I'm going to let it cool and see if it changes otherwise I'm going to fit the old alternator and see what that does.
Low voltage might slow down the injectors opening time if the ECU switches the whole battery voltage across the injectors plus resistors. Be interesting to confirm with an oscilloscope.
