    driveline removal

    Hi Guys,

before I waste my time trying.... Can I remove the engine/box and transfer case without seperating them.... The bonnet closing panel looks to be spot welded together. So its possible I have to seperate everything ? (it is a 1992 model).

I'd much prefer to yank the whole lot out intact though!

Drill out the spot welds, remove the latch panel, remove at least one rear gearbox mount and the engine comes out easily with the box attached. My mate's LSE has nutserts fitted for the reinstallation of the latch panel.

That makes sense, are the earlier ones bolted .... ie: I just drill say 6mm holes and bolt the panel back in where the spot welds are (its going to be painted either way, But I've found its really easy to fill the drilled holes with a MIG ... but not actually weld the two panels back together).

And .... I just read the whole thing ... nutserts I can do that! I've always wanted to buy a nutsert kit!

I'll be damned, look how cheap those things are these days!

Wow, that is cheap. Be warned that the "pliers" on these tend to be pretty weak and deform. OK for alloy inserts, at the smaller sizes. But be careful... ask me how I know If the mandrels are standard format you can get a decent tool to go with that kit and itd still be really good value for money. I'd buy it just for the inserts...

The best additional tools are Australian made and useful in tight spaces unlike all the tools with attached handles. Kit:
