Am I missing something - can anyone advise if this is a normal thing? I replaced the swivel hub seal today only to find that all the hubs have been drilled to match the axle.
It's like each hole in both the swivel hub is a figure eight!
The annoying part was the gasket didn't fit, no matter which way I tried to make it fit - and now I have a small drip of oil coming from there!

Drilled to match (I'm assuming slotting is making the original hole oval in shape).
It's like the original holes are about 8-10mm out of place and the housing has been drilled to make them fit.

And if anyone has a pair of slotted county swivels and wants stock......... I have a set of stock and want slotted!
cheers, DL
Seems like a nasty backyard kinda 'engineering' solution to me. It'd be something I'd come across and wonder wtf 'precious cretin' would think that this solution was constituted or acceptable....'just tighten the bolts and she'll be fine'..
It is a very common modification, one which I intend to do when I rebuild my spare axle assembly. It is possible to fit a lock bolt to prevent any possible unwanted rotation of the swivel housing.
