    Auto trans oil cooler

    Gday All,

    I noticed that when they changed my 3.9 V8 auto to 5sp manual they left the oil cooler still mounted in position they basically just cut and squashed the pipe.

    Does the 5sp need extra cooling ?, not even sure if its possible but thought I would ask .

    I'm fairly sure one of the manuals had a pump specifically for cooling,, just not sure which

    Both the LT77 and the R380 can have a cooler fitted, it runs from the end case, an external t/stat housing bolts onto the side of the pump and the lines run forward.

    I have two '92s here. The automatic runs through the radiator tanks before the oil cooler out in front. The R380 just runs through the oil cooler. Here is the interesting bit. The manual has 'O"ring connections, so different cooler and different hose. The automatic uses standard flare type joints.

    Don’t happen to know if all lt77s have this ability? Wouldn’t mind cooling the box in my 200tdi disco.

    AFAIK it's the same as the R380.

    Remove the transfer pipe/housing off the side of the 'box and bolt on the t/stat housing.
    IIRC they are the same for both 'boxes.
