I would think the D1's would be,, my Rossi had tiny rear pads,, and the replacements had wires?
Sorry Ean but its a while ago now...![]()
Gday All,
Done some searching but dont see much so will post up , my rear pads are going to be due soon , 1990, 3.9 vogue , the pads seem to have sensor wires in the pad itself, would this be right ?
anyway , not stressed about the wear sensors ,but looking at pads dont see many for the RRC ,is D1 the same ? or anything else for that matter.
Thanks and Cheers Ean

Yes D1 are the same, I used to buy genuine pads that had the sensor wire that I just snipped off.

The genuine pads are pretty darn cheap and last really well, resist fading better than most aftermarket and don't wear rotors. The last bit I would rate as the most important bit.
Having said all that, I really think the non abs setup (vented fronts) is pretty darn wooden. There's no shortage of retarding, but the initial bite on pedal application is better after the brakes get a bit warm (properly warm actually), cold pads and rotors are a pretty lacklustre combo in my opinion. I've completely overhauled my brakes, new master prop valve and rebuilt callipers new rotors pads etc, and it made very little difference overall to the feel.
I've heard the hydroboost and the later abs/wabco setups are much improved, and also the single circuit defender brakes also provide a better pedal modulation / feel.
I believe that an increase in rotor diameter and pad surface area would be beneficial, but the associated expense is quite exhorbitant. Last time I checked, the willwood 2 piece rotor and calliper upgrade was in the order of about 4500AUD.
I'm pretty sure there could be a way to use factory vented front rotors on the rear with a slightly modified calliper mount. I had given some thought to doing it on my spare axle assemblies. I have found that the rear brakes are quite adequate but do get quite a bit warmer than the fronts, obviously due to the fact they are solid rotors and cannot dissipate the heat as efficiently as front vented rotors.
