Haven't you guys heard of a club permit. You just move the proper car to a permit and buy the modern plastic POS .... you'll be sick of the modern POS in no time... But at least you haven't sold the proper car [bigrolf] Club permits are about $70 a year for 45days. You will not need to full 45 days if your driving the plastic fantastic POS as the daily driver.

Despite this I still enjoy driving them when I get one on the road, either on road or on the tracks they just a joy to drive. Well the L322 idea died in the ass, simply because no legally-fitting bullbar (therefore no proper winch mount).
I had a bmw v8 model lined up for a very tidy sum, only to find out bullbar = not legal. There are no ADR compliant bars available.
dumbest ever move by JLR.
Shane - I might have missed something, but to get club permits and rego etc , you actualy have to be an active club member. That is just too hard for many of us. Happily, due to my age, I now get free rego. The insurance "agreed value" restriction on older vehicles with many insurers was fixed by moving to Shannons. They asked all the right questions about the vehicle and my driving history, then doubled the original cover for very little extra premium - terrific service!Quote:

I just looked at my 'stockpile' of bits and pieces. It outnumbers all the spares I have for ALL the other mercs combined.

That is not surprising if you do what I do. When I visit the hardware shop for water fittings & stuff, I buy 2 of everything that I need. that way I build up an Emergency Reserve in case I need stuff after hours & when with out a car.
I don't do that with Land Rover bits though unless I take out a 2nd & 3rd Mortgage or sell my kidneys or lungs.
So far so good & I have tried to educate my Grandson in the same sneaky ways. At least he may have something to remember me by.[biggrin]
