Hi Shane ...motor driven geared swing arm plate from memory.
Usual problem is rivets come loose or welds break..apart from rust on window channel( the channel that holds the glass)...
you need to remove door trim and have a look😁
It’s not hard...😁😁

I believe there are two regulator types and your VIN is req'd to decipher. Mine are same as disco 1 and are scissor type fwiw. They are slow, and occasionally bind up. I should replace them, but right now have more pressing matters to attend to.

Thanks guys .... YAY ... not the modern cable driven crap I'll be able to fix it then. If it was cable driven junk .... I'd have put this off ..... until boss women demanded it fixed

To be honest I looked at the prices on bearmach and they weren't that bad. Might have to get myself a pair of new ones.

Well this arvo I was looking into a more pressing issue - radiator header tank (almost new) has a split along the seam. Coolant escaping. Fun times.

But while I was waiting for the vehicle to cool down, I got to the Drivers side window. regulator in a roundabout way.

Pulled up the seal with the window full down (it wasn't going up) and sprayed the mechanism with inox for a bit, then waited. then coaxed the window up and did same again.

After about 3 good sprays, the window's as fast as it ever was, and the scissor and sliders appear to be working quite well. So that's bought me some time, until new bits are purchased.

Not sure how bad yours is Shane, but mine was literally not going up or down and now it's like a freight train. So maybe it will work for you? worth a try.

Mine was always fast. It seemed to jam and "jump" half way down. It now doesn't go all the way down, so I guessing something in there is broken/jumping that shouldn't move

Oh that would be the gears for sure.. Just a worm and spur type arrangement, and by the sounds of it something is causing it to bind or jump on the regulator .

Bu the bonus is a new regulator is only about 61 bucks. plus shipping...

It's unlikely that the motor is completely shagged, but they can be disassembled and cleaned, regreased etc and some of them have a screw to adjust the slack. not sure if RRC ones have that function, some of the mercedes ones do.
