			TX Valve

I finally decided to take the dash apart recently to install a new TX valve in my MY93 SE. Interestingly, the part that I ordered (to match the catalogue) didn't fit and I had to hunt down and purchase an alternate (which does fit). I thought I had best share this finding in case anyone else has the same issue.
I ended up ordering both my TX valves through Rock Auto (rockauto.com) who seemed to have a good online website and a good range of TX valves (and other parts) from a couple of the US-based global suppliers. I elected to purchase my valves (both of them) from a manufacturer called Four Seasons (Four Seasons | English).
In general, TX valves seem to cost a lot less in the US (compared to the prices here in Australia) and the cost of purchasing the valve, including shipping, through Rock Auto was only $40AUD ($27USD). They had another brand that was a similar price too. Also, both parts arrived within a week from purchase via the economy international shipping option.
Anyway, point of the story is that the TX Valve part number referenced in the Land Rover Parts Catalogue for MY92-95 is RTC6143 (Pg 225, #12). There are also no additional notes indicating any part number variants for MY or sales location. According to the Four Seasons manufacturer website, Land Rover RTC6143 correlates to Four Seasons part number 39159. However this IS NOT CORRECT as the outlet pipe size and the associated male thread is not a match for the original TX valve in my car. The CORRECT Four Seasons part number is actually 38683 (which doesn't even list that it correlates to any Land Rover part, but the specs are correct).
I've included a photo showing the original part removed from the vehicle and the two Four Seasons replacement parts - it's clear to see that the outlet thread on 39159 is way too large.TX Valve.jpg
The problem with the mis-matched Four Seasons part numbers probably stems from an incorrect listing in the Four Seasons catalogue, although the photos on the Rock Auto website from two different suppliers seems to indicate that a larger thread size is expected for RTC6143. Perhaps it's a US thing, but I would have thought that the parts catalogue would have noted any such variation.
Anyway, correct part has now arrived for only $40 instead of the $120+ which was the best price I could find locally.
