I recently sold my previous RRC, a 1985 model with the 3 speed Chrysler auto. It had a Holden 308 with an Impco 425 mixer so straight LPG. I did have the distributor re-graphed. I used to get 25l/100km out of that also, and it had a great deal more power than the current 3.9 with 5 speed manual. You would think with the old car being an auto (the Chrysler apparently take quite a few horsepower to drive) and a larger motor it would have used more fuel than the current car with a manual transmission and smaller motor.
I've got a 1999 Ford Courier ute with an injected 2.6l 4 cyl engine that uses at least as much petrol as the 350 (5.7 l, 2 barrel carb, 700 thou old) in the RR.
I even asked the question about this on aulro and within minutes people who'd actually owned the same courier utes replied that it was normal, including Beutey who knew his stuff.

My Black Box is doing fine. I have not had to touch it for months, since I the last MAP I put in that I worked out for my LPG. Starts easy, runs well, no problems. Fuel economy has stayed much the same 22-25 litres per 100km. Still have not tried it on petrol yet.
It was a bit expensive and a pain to get it set up correctly, but in the end, it was a far better option than getting the distributor re-graphed. I have been able to test test several MAP's to get the one that best suited my engine. With the distributor re-graph I would have been stuck with what I was given, and no option to go back to a petrol setting.
Since my last post I have settled on a MAP that I think has given me an extra 10hp (seat of the pants) and better fuel economy by around 2 litres per 100km. I am getting close to 20l/100km. With the wideband O2 sensor I have been able to set the LPG mixtures and are very happy with the performance, I don't think I could get much more out of it. Has anyone else tried fitting one of these programmable ignitions yet?

There were ones I knew about with the same gas set up and fresh 350's getting 5.5.
You're maybe getting to the stage where other things are having an influence, such as tyre width and pressure, roof racks, height and stuff.
I'm still interested in getting 2 ign units and doing the dual map that way, after I've put in all the new parts I already have.

Has anyone (except for me) fitted one of these CB Blackbox Programmable Ignitions yet? I have been using mine for quite a while now and had no problems with it.
I have just done some work on my engine and drove it for the first time today.
A 3.9 litre with new high compression pistons, 30 thou off the block, 20 thou off the heads, composite head gaskets. Heads had valves reseated were ported and the inlet manifold matched to the intake ports.
I now have around 9.8:1 compression I believe, better than the 8.0:1 compression I had before given the deck height I had. Run the car on LPG with a BLOS mixer.
Now I need to come up with a MAP to suit the new setup and would like to see what others are using.

been a while, yes, I received the black box, but it is still in the wrapper.
During a tune up I discovered compression was down on all cylinders, 90-95 psi.
She's done 280.000 kls. So I decided to bite the bullet and rebuild the engine.
On disassembly, the rings were shot, over 2mm gaps, but bores were perfect?
cam also was worn and only the inlet valves showed any sign of sealing.
I done a few engines, but never seen blow by on pistons like this one.
All plain bearings were down to copper. It was definitely due for rebuild.
It ran like a dream, no problems for years, amazing, considering the state of the engine.
Tested fuel consumption before stripping engine, worked out at 26 litres per 100 kls. Highway cruise, not good.
Be interested to see what it is after.
Like yours I've gone for higher compression pistons.
Turner eng. top hat liners, and Piper camshaft.
Heads with bulleted guides and ports done etc.
In the build process at the moment, will let you know when done and time to fit the black box.
