Thread: oil dipstick for 3.9 petrol engine waanted urgently

Does it lose THAT much oil that you need to check it before you leave and before you go back home???

Just plug the tube with a piece of dowel (whittle skills with your pocketknife for an authentic bushie solution)

Stainless Tig rod works as a substitute, if you need a length, I'll go measure the depth marks for empty and full.

I don't have a spare, sorry.

Yes there are bush solutions, BUT I learned the hard way that the oil level needs to be strictly betwwen marks. Not so long ago a "mechanic" overfilled the oil on another of my vehicles so much it induced hydraulic lock and I ain't about to replicate that scenario.

You certainly can help me by measuring the folowing:

a) overall length of the dipstick from seat to bottom
b) position in mm from seat to the "low" mark"
c) ditto - "high" mark

That woud be greatly appreciated

This is taken from mine:

1: the FULL length of the dipstick as measured is 560mm - that is FULLY SEATED. (which is how you must take the measurement)
2: The measurement from the base of the cap to the end of the dipstick is 550mm
3: I shifted the rule, so that you have a measurement to work off that is the correct reference for the full length.

A: Measurement to low mark is 515mm
B: Measurement to High mark is 484mm
