    Number plate light base repair

Had an unsuccessful search for a repair method for the number plate light base.
Mine both have rusty light sockets but the rest of the parts are good.
Can you buy a BA9 clip in light socket similar to what used to be used on old Holdens and Fords.
I have searched the Rare Spares site and Narva and there are lots of BA15’s but not BA9.

I’m sure I’m not the first with this problem so what have others done.

Thanks Don but I’m trying to get one like this but for a BA9
    Narva |
BAYONET CAP GLOBE HOLDER (Pack of 1)

Then I can push/stage it into the existing number plate light base.

    There's your alternative.

Might be worth considering more modern alternatives.

    Fixed

Thanks Mercguy, I found some info on the Narva globe holder on a Chrysler site and it stated that it was for a 16mm hole, which is what I suspected the rover base was.
My order from Repco came through so I picked up the parts.
Ground out the old light socket.

    New light socket.

    All assembled.

With the earth ring and the base, the lugs don’t deflect much so the light socket deflects and the bulb is a bit tight.
I might either bend the lugs a little and see if it is not too loose in the rover base, and if it is, solder the socket to the rover base.
Either way, it should all be good again
