    I think you're looking in the wrong spot. check and wiggle the fuses for the windows, and check the earth point (probably under the center console passenger side bolt) is tight. I'm putting money on the earth wire.

    Was the first thing I checked before I found the uncrimped wire in the automatic module. Alas, the issue is deeper than previously thought. If the rain holds off, front carpet out and tunnel carpet up and more digging around the fuse panel.

    but it's windywet and cold and I really don't feel like it.
