Hi all,
I have lowered my RRC from the 2” lift springs with -1” springs from Famous Four.
The front is now sitting 3” lower when measured at the bump stops as expected.
However, the rear initially sat nearly 3” lower, but it is now only 2” lower. I put this down to me climbing in and out via the tailgate removing the rear seat and reinstalling it, cleaning mats, floor etc and I suspect the hydromat has pumped up back to the standard height.
I measured from where the bottom boot fits on the hydromat to where it seats against the ball joint hex and this is ~106 mm. This would be the overall length of the installed boot on a working hydromat. 460E6A99-DBA8-4F31-8046-E0B83BF7A689.jpg
Does anyone have a standard height RRC with a working hydromat that could check this dimension
Also, the shaft of the hydromat measured ~85 mm from the face of the hydromat body to the end of the shaft. Does anyone know what the fully extended length is ?
Hi, I have a Hydromat off the car that has just been reconditioned by WS Shock Absorbers in Brisbane. The length of the shaft on mine is 128mm. That allows for the seal that protrudes slightly from the bore. So if you subtract the thickness of the seal the exposed length of the shaft is 125 mm. I too am about to instal the Famous Four shorter springs. The car, a 1981 Australian assembled 2 door, had two inch lift springs and longer travel shocks. Rode like jelly on springs! The Hydromat was cactus but not so far gone that it couldn’t be reconditioned. Anyway, hope the measurements help your calculations. Regards, Chris
