I agree, my 76 was pertty bad clunkwise when I bought it but when I replaced the a-frame ball joint, the clunk was nearly gone apart from the usual backlash that the 95's have.
I hadn't driven a LT95 for a few years til I bought this Rangie so I had to adjust my driving style like you mentioned (especialy have an auto for so long you forget).
Trav
A Frame ball joint already replaced, so theres no clunk, just the backlash. I must say that I need to learn heaps... kept putting it into 1st gear in low range rather than 2nd!!
Rangier Rover - thats one flex you got there. Mine only needs to hold it in place as its just sitting on the lip of the spring retainer, so a clip will do the trick in holding it in place.
Long range fuel tank;)

still going strong at 30 yo - very original '78 RR, well apart from the holley, nola bushes, defence dept spec LT95 (only realised when I went to fit the O/D - no way known was this a standard main shaft), wiring replacement, dual battery, bilstein shocks and electronic dizzy.
