    Rangie Rear bar

    Fellas,

just thought that i'd let you know about a rear bar I saw at Cooma the other day.

You may be aware of Glenn at 4wd Action Mag (formerly 4wd Monthly) and his red Rangie. They are doing it up and have already modified it significantly.

A couple of issues ago, they did a nice set of home made rock sliders using metal section that I think were called 'silo sections' (???)...sort of a trapezoidal section and very simple to weld up.

AAAAnyway, the new rear bar was VERY impressive. No end caps to fall of an very neat and fitted very well.

Keep an eye out for it in an upcoming mag (no, I don't work for the publisher, but I am a subscriber).

Mate, I just made up my own rock sliders (with my old man Chucaro) for the two Rangies. We are now planning for some rear wheel carriers. Its a lot of fun and very satisfying when you can build stuff yourself

Guys, honestly its not that hard to stick weld. You just need to practice on scrap metal and understand the principles of stick width, amps etc etc. Im planning on getting a welder sometime so I can continue knocking stuff up

Thanks for the kind words Matt. The great thing about Rangies is that they're much easier to build rock sliders and rear bars for then the Japanese 4WDs. The rear bar is a mix of the same silo section from the sills and some 4mm wall thickness box section welded on top. Cut some of the rear bodywork away and you're done. I'm just writing the story up now for the mag.
