    Welcome

Yes, best kept secret these Rovers are. I second Rangier, get some pics up of the beast. You will find a wealth of information regarding anything Rover here, so ask away if unsure

Gday Rangier Rover, yes mate it has rev counter not that it moves alot with the auto. yes has fuse panel lower left dash, have a 4.4 p76 motor in bits a set of 33" bfgs. also put a 2" body lift under it last weekend. am now looking around for a resonably priced 2" suspension kit. should be able to make it go ok eventually. I hope

Did that 4.4 come out of a Rangie? Mounts,Crank bolt holes, Need oiler holes in block to run RR heads, change dowels to swap timing cover, Ring spacer for RR starter are some cosiderations. Unless going full gas most put the CDs off 3.5 on. Either cut and shut the manifold or use spacers as 4.4 has higher deck.
Most 4.4s have cracked pistons and can be dear to buy in. RR pistons are far to tall so I have used holden starfire pistons (sawn off 173) found in 4cyl comy. They are cheap and easy to get. They need a light ream and hone to get gudgeon pins to fit.
    Cheers Tony

Hi i think you might find that the auto might be a borgwarner fitted in Australia I had a 83 V8 4dr 3 speed auto (fitted in australia for rover) had a silver badge on the tale gate stating AUTO. Its was the same internals as the Auto in a falcon and was very sluggish but still fun. Off road on Fraser Island if you had a sand hill climb you would put it in Low drive put your foot to the floor and it would change gears to suit and went every where.
Rebuilt auto at 80000km and again at about 150000 was told box not designed to continualy lug around 1.9t 4wd on beach bands stretched.
Apparently they also fitted torque flite autos (chrysler box) at the same time as the borgwarners.
Not sure when rover first brought in a real factory Auto.
