Range Rover Classic / Disco 1 in Australia?

Firstly apologies if this post is in the wrong section as I'm still trying to find my way around this great resource called AULRO

    I'm torn between two directions:

    * Push on with my 1962 IIa renovation (my truck for the last 10 years with great memories); or

    * Try to find a cheap Classic or Disco 1 and build it up to become a decent off-roader

As we're moving to Victoria in the next couple of years I was wondering how available RRC or Disco 1's are in Australia. I'm talking sub $10k kind of range.

    Any comments?

You dont have to worry about choice here in Victoria. There are always plenty of Rangies and Discos available at any time.

I'd say do both, you can pick up P38's for sub 10K and I picked up my 1990 RRC 2 years ago for less than $4k and there are only more becoming available with the petrol price increases

    hey, welcome along

have a look here, its a good place to start looking for cars in Australia

New & Used Cars รข?? Search New & Used Cars For Sale - CarPoint Australia

Used Cars - New Cars - Search New & Used Cars For Sale - carsales.com.au

Trading Post - Buying and Selling Goods Online Australia wide

and of course AULRO Classifieds - Main Index - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

BTW, there are heaps of RRC's and Disco1's all over Australia and lots of good modified ones for under 10 gorilla's

The real question is 'are there any Disco1 or RR Classic selling for MORE than $10k'

    Not many I'd think.

    hi backball
RRC's are dirt cheap and only going to get cheaper still. try setting up a favorite search on ebay.com.au so you can monitor the market, include 'completed items' so you can see what vehicles actually achieve
imho the '88s are the best. parts supply is brilliant and build up stuff is freely available.
disco's of a similar vintage are however starting to suffer the woes of their original build quality compounded by age.
just a suggestion would be to word yourself up on victoria's registration system via the vicroads.vic.gov.au site. once you are over the hump of the process of inspection and registering it in your name that's it ! no subsequent testing whatsoever provided you keep it continuously registered.
    i love victoria !
