    Talking 1993 rangie extra seats

    Hi

We have a 93 rangie (classic i think) and we don't have enough seats in there we have 2 adults and four kids. We were looking at putting a double seat in the back but have been told that it can't be done because it has an aluminum floor or something like that. WE looked on a cars website last night and found a rangie 93 model that had the seat in the back. Can anyone help us on how to go about this as we don't want to have to sell the rangie but we need extra seats.

    thanks in advance.

Definitely possible. I saw a P38 at Albion Auto Auctions with twin bucket seats as a third row. It had a blue modification plate under the bonnett.

A mate of mine had a 91 classic with two additional seats facing backwards behind the normal rear seats in his car

You do not need an engineers certificate if the kids using the seat are under a certain age/weight. You just need a qualified place to fit them.

They tend to be a universal fit. The mounting brackets are basically plates that fit under the floor to spread the stress of an accident across a larger area. My daughter had one fitted professionally to a Pathfinder. She sold that and got a Commodore Wagon. I was able to move the seat to the Commodore with using the same hardware as for the pathfinder.

They do require a fair amount of room to fit and be able to fold forward out of the way. I not sure whether there would be enough room in the back of a Rangie.

The RR is a 5 seater on compliance plate. I dont see how a so called fitter can label it a 7 seater Safely. There are to many variables in my opinion. You can't put kids at risk It's worth an ask
