Smile 94 LSE Classic air compressor

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Now have 2 spare compressors that work on a independtant power but soon as you plug them into the system no go. As i understand the system several things stop the compressor. Door open, foot on brake, enough preasure, speed sensor and last heat sensor. We pluged in a new compressor and all is working fine. so i guess that points us to the heat sensor in the compressor. Can you help ? has any one striped one down do we know how it works what it looks like is it an easy part to purchase. I will have a go at pulling one down this weekend to see what makes it tick any hints would be helpfull and keep you posted. Thanks Ron

    Ron,

You can bypass the heat sensor by grounding one of the wires from the sensr in the motor itself. I have done this before. If I remember correctly the compressor motor has 4 wires, power, earth and one of the other 2 is the sense wire to tell the ECU to turn off power to the compressor when resistance is at a particular point (of temp?). If you earth this wire, the system thinks the compressor is below cut out temp and allows it to run.
I seem to remember just cutting it and soldering a lug to one end that I then earthed to one of the bolts holding the compressor housing cover on.

It's been OK for about 3 years now.

A RAVE diagram will help determine which one.
