Nice first post topic!!!
Has anybody had experience in replacing the OEM Airbox and Air Filter with a K&N Filter? Specifically the K&N 57-0050 model which is customised as the replacement airfilter pod for 1988-1994 3.9ltr Rangies. I'm looking at doing this but would like to hear from someone else who's tried it - hopefully with no problems at all.

Sorry - I should have also said welcome![]()
Hi & welcome
My 1990 RRC came with a Pod air filter already on it .... As the previous owner had removed the round can air air filter and stuck this on
It has been hose clamped directly to the alli body of the MAF (take it off and you can see the mesh wires of the MAF
I don't think much of it ... The motor runs OK ... You do hear a constant slurp (air sucking) noise of air all the time, so it is noisy .... Would NOT use it in fine dust conditions

Pods only keep out rocks and tree branches, so be more than a little careful where you go.
Not a particularly good dust keeper-outer!!!
And welcome!!!

FWIW If you want to improve airflow fit a properly plumbed in Deefender 300TDi air filter assembly. Read Isuzurover's excellent thread on airfilters - once you have read that I don't think that you will even consider a K&N set up. What have I done - on my 300TDi Discovery I have fitted a Defender 300TDi filter , on my Defender with an Isuzu 4BD1T fitted I am using the genuine Donaldson filter, I am hoping to build up a special classic Rangie shortly - 93 model 3.9 V8 - DV, I intend to use a Defender 300 TDi filter assembly. The K&N set up might be alright for the race track, but does not provide adequate filtration in dusty conditions.

G'day BlackCSK
Welcome to AULRO
Would that happen to be CSK-011, by any chance????
saw it a Qld 60th gathering at Gold Coast, but may have missed it a Cooma.
It is one nice vehicle!
cheers
Actually my CSK is one of the Australian 4 door releases.
There were 50 of them - 25 were black - 25 where white - mines one of the black ones.
All were built in the UK in September 1990 and released in Australia in July 1991.
They were marketed as "special' at the time but they were really a cosmetic upgrade to a Vogue SE.
In effect these 50 Aust release CSKs are the equivalent of a 1991 build Vogue SE, but built in 1990 (i.e. a 1991 Vogue SE proptotype built 6 moonths in advance), with every Australian option included plus the following
- beefed up factory stereo unique (which is actually pretty good)
- black and gold pin striping unique only to the Aust release CSK (whoopee!)
- a "CSK" decal on the tailgate and each side (whoopee - ye har!)
- first Australian RR to be factory painted black (again whoopee! - but it does look bloody good when its polished up!)
There is an incorrect rumour that the engines were spannered up - they are the standard 8.13:1 comp ratio 3.9 EFI V8.
Nevertheless it was sold as a CSK - and for what it's worth if you check out the Red Book for 1991 RRC, the CSK is listed separately as the next up from a Vogue SE.
I've had it since 2002 and love it.
I've also had a 1993 RRC; and also a 1971 Series III Landy into which I shoehorned a Holden 253 - however both these are now long gone.
Actually the reason I am wanting an alternative air filter arrangement is to get the original factory air box (round) away from the front corner of the engine bay so that I have the room to install a second battery - So if anyones got advise on this it would be appreciated.
Cheers.
