Clarkie's New POS, Pig, HACK, Shieter

Its been awhile since ive had a 4wd on the road, last one was Grommet the ute... Since then i've had the County Project that has taken a step back of the priority list due to lack of enthusiasm and ive been wrecking a few 4wd's and getting my Dads 92 Rangie on the road.

Now that all for that is finished ive dragged one of the Rangies i was wrecking out of the wrecking pile and its now almost to the stage of registration.

So what is it and what has been done so far?

1987 EA vin Range Rover Classic, Auto, LPG Dual fuel

I bought it from Pickels Auction and paid not a great deal for it, cashed the reg in on it as i was going to wreck it, sold the Alloys and some smaller bits off it and then Wollopit85 and i started to wreck it..... then i got a great idea and thought id fix it up...

So what did it ned to be RWC??

Suspension needed everything, Power steer box leaked BADLY, so i replaced it, needed roof and tailgate as a tree fell on it. Replaced them, Water pump, Radiator, interior trim bits, Lots of little things for the RWC, like lenses ect....

So i replaced what had to be replaced and its now all done and RWC, so next week i'll hand the RWC in and it's all underway for further mods.....

List of what i want it to have and what it will have......

its got a big suspension lift and i have waiting to fit a few parts...
Scorpion rear 2" drop mounts, these will drop the shock down 2" and allow the rear to hang further down over std, i need to add 2" to the bump stops to stop the shocks topping out. i wont gain any travel over std, but i will lower the suspension movement down 2" that gives me 2" more guard clearance for the 35" Simex i have.
Front towers are being cut and shut to do the same 2" drop.

Extended brake lines have been made by me..... dont ask how i did it, but i got the parts i needed and ive done it..... No its not ADR approved.

Extractors were bought and will be fitted after Xmas..... and it will be loud... yes not ADR aproved.. and will be over the dB limit specified...

Current tyres are BFG Muds on 130 Rims, 265/75/16 they fill the guards nicely and will be replaced with my 35" Simex on some Black Sunraysia style rims.

Engine is Stock and tired... will be pulled out and a 3.9 will be fitted.. or maybe a 4.2.......

Auto is staying as i'm old a lazy... Crawler gears that were going in the County are now going in the Rangie...

I scored a Steering guard and ive fitted it, it required some modifications to fit and a few brackets to be cut and welded on, but it looks good and works.

Ive got some 24 spline ARB lockers that have to be fitted and will be done over the xmas break

As will the caster correcting front LRA Swivels. Any lift over 2" and you get bump steer problems... mine is over 2" and so i've got the swivels being done as we speak.

Front ARB bar will be scrapped and replaced with a nice tub Winch bar to house my Warn High mount, but i'm waiting on it to arrive from the UK...

Rear ARB bar will be cut and modified, dual swing away carriers are being fitted, one will be a permanent one and the other will be for a 2nd spare or jerry cans.

The LPG tank is a PITA where it is, but as it's only 18 months old, it can stay. At least i have the original fuel tank and the LPG, better range if i take it on the desert trip i plan in Sept 09.

The roof is nice a Green, it came from a Donor Rangie i got from Sydney, long story, but i got ripped off..... So i'll wreck the green rangie and use the engine as a coffee table....

    Sliders will come soon

Front and Rear QT Diff guards are ready to be fitted after the lockers go in.

Interior will be std, i'm going to try to find a cargo barrier for it.

And last mod i can think of today will be a Full roll cage....
Roof off, cage built and welded in, then roof on....
Last thing i want is a Squished Ben Clarke in his baby seat...

I'll keep you informed as the mods go on...
Shed is being built as we speak, so the mods will get underway very soon...

1st pic, when i got it

Good to see another Rangie saved. Once on and off road you will be bitten by the bug They do it in style.
    I like the ROPS idea
