    speedo gear drive for rrc

anyone know of a place to get a gear drive that joins the speedo cable to the back of the speedo, i have been quoted a 100 bucks from a guy that has a fairly new business in traralgon he seems to really know his stuff when i find his bussines card i will give him a plug as he didnt know me from a bar of soap and gave me the best price by far, I am happy with that price (very) as my local landrover dealer whom i used to work for quoted me 193 bucks and both are new, but i just wanna get the beast rego'd asap so was looking for a second hand one, to start me off, bought a boat before chrissy and my rangie after missus says i am at the limit for a bit lol

Why do you need a new drive?

The cover plate pops out then the gears go out of mesh. Clean it up and epoxy the plate back in.

I did that and the problem was solved.

    Hi,

Mine was intact, as in no loose cover. Took cover off and found alloy casing was worn, drilled it out, pressed in brass tube, drilled that to size, refitted gears with grease and refitted cover. Took about 15 mins and is still fine after 80,000 kms.

    cheers, DL

    That's interesting. I hadn't considered that scenario.

Thanks for that. I assume it was allowing the gears to go out of mesh.

The loose end cover was a relatively common problem.

thanks p38arover it worked, someone had a dig at it before me but i was able to still fix it, they had washers in place of the end cap, and hadnt glued it good, i used quick bond glue, with a bit of rubber grease for lube have to see how it holds up
