If its quiet and you only use it in 4th high it should be OK.

To test its thrust washers you can put the car in 1st low and overdrive off, and do a few on /off the accelerator.

If it is OK it will not jump out of gear. If not it will jump out of gear.

It can be embarrassing when it jumps out when you are going down a 1in 3 in low low.
maker sure you top it up when you put it on, although the LT95 ones have a splash feed from the transfer.

Thanks Philip ,you seem to know a bit about them ,so whats the procedure in operating this mouse factory
any info would be greatly appreciated as i know nothing about them.
I heard something about building some sort of figure 8 brace thing
to stop gears falling out of bed.Could be just a vicious rumour.

    There is no great secret.
trouble is they are old and hard to get parts for.
The main wear areas are the thrust washer and the bearings between the input and output shaft.
I rebuilt mine with the help of a Czech engineer mate. (Well he did most of it)

The main issue is that the needle rollers "Brinnell" the shafts as there are no removable outers, however you can buy needle rollers of the required ID and OD with an integral track.

I think mine become troublesome over time because the thrust washer again started to wear. This seems to be the main problem. My mate made a thrust washer out of sintered bronze but it may have been too soft.
The main gears and bearings are LR standard issue.
I do not know anything about "figure8" or whatever.
I had exploded views and parts lists and a spare bearing but I threw them away when I moved house.
To operate it all you do is declutch and shift the gear lever straight backwards and forwards.
It has high /neutral/low and the lever rattles if the bushes are old.
