Currently got a Bosch 80 Amp in at the moment.

I remember the alternator that was in my XF Farimont Ghia. There were 2 screws on the back whis allowed you to replace the regulator and brushes as a complete module. Took about 30 seconds to do, and was fantastic.

I just don't remember the make.

Fitted a new alternator late last week after the batt light came on for the first time in 16 years! Yes the Marelli finally dropped out. Was just the brushes, but when I pulled it out to fit new brushes, the back mount leg fell off, fractured right thru! Thinks me overtightened it a tad last time I cahnged the belt, 3 years ago.....

Anyway, bought a new alternator but wanted something bigger than the stock 85A unit seing as the Classic is fitted with 4 spotties, stereo, 2way etc etc etc.
"But what did you fit..? " I hear you ask??? You never gonna guess!!!
    BRAND - ISKRA
    TYPE - A127 type 14V 120A
    MODEL - AAK5384
    ISKRA MODEL - 11.203.175
    FITS -

    MASSEY BLOODY FERGUSON!!!!!

A word of warning though, the wiring terminals are rotated 90 deg towards the rocker cover on a V8.

BE EXTRA CAREFULL WHEN INSTALLING AND MOVING ITS POSITION as your spanners may become part of your engine if you cross contact!!

I didnt but it did make me carefull and I am going to see if it can be turned around the right way.

    Cheers

    Andrew.

Comes without a pulley, just change over the old one.
There was a spacer / dust deflector on the new alt that needed to come off first though. Pulley would sit forward too far not to mention the nut wouldnt lock up properly as the thread is just slightly shorter, but without the spacer is perfect in every dimension!

Think I paid about $365.00 incl GST for it from PJL Diesel Electric in Welshpool, but htats trade price which I get thru the industry.

Retails at about $500 but man does it have some output!!

I can now run 2x IPF 900's, 2x Lightforce 240 Blitz, 2x 100w headlights, stereo at 400dB, 2way, A/C, have thermo fans running and air compressor pumping and it still doesnt drop below 13V!!
