You know that the inlet manifiold between the carbies is the highest point in the system, and the Stromberg manifolds have a bleed line to the RH rad tank from there.
Does the Quad manifold have a bleed? If it is a Stromberg manifold cut off it may need a new bleed hole to be drilled and a fitting placed there for a hose to the RH tank.
Maybe you could drill and tap a hole under the carb and just fill it until the water comes out.
Depends how high the top of the manifold is Vs the heads.
Blocking the hole can cause overheating on a Stromberg car.

Turning the heater on won't help it bleed air out as they have no coolant cut off or by pass in the first place. Good way to check if there is coolant flowing by feel of heat generated though. Wonder why the aircon is not so good with all that heat in there that leaks out
As Philip A has said... A bleed or small bypass would be good on the manifold.

Also what is the water pump impeller like?

Your gauge sounds like a voltage or earthleakage

Found a solution but not the cause. All I did was lift the overflow tank up. I just sit it on top of the cradle instead of in it and now no overflow and is running just above 1/4 on the temp gauge.
Where is the second small hose that comes out of the radiator supposed to go. One goes to the overflow but the other is plugged on both of the Raniges I have got here is someone able to post a photo of where it goes to.

    Regards
    Kris

The cause was .... Air lock in the manifold area stopping the water level filling the heads (Air lock in heads) .... The water gets super heated in the heads, That is why the water was "Spurting & bubbling" out of the expansion tank

There is a photo in the "Haynes manual" .. and it shows it going to the FRONT, LEFT HAND SIDE of the ORIGINAL manifold

Looks as tho it acts as a bleed line for any trapped air locks

    Hope it helps

On a carby car it goes to the bleed in the middle of the "tower" between the stromberg carbies, as I said above.
On EFI cars it is the throttle body heater.
