    CV joint failure symptoms

What are the signs of a cv joint going bad. Have just started to get a nasty noise only on fullish lock after a trip into the bush. Are they a reasonably straight forward job to change.

Thumbs up All I personally know

Ok I can tell u that CV,s make a horrible clicking sound on full lock forward and reverse when they are on their way out.
Have not changed one as yet so I would recommend the Rave cd from this site. It will have all the pics and info u need to replace one.
    cheers

If your mechanically minded ... Yep, Straight forward

    Take front wheel off
    Remove Stub axle
Remove brake calliper (hang it up on the coil spring with wire)
    Remove top swivel bolts
    Remove Top swivel pin
Remove Brake disc hub with the stub axle assembly as a whole

CV right in front of you

Buy a used CV ... Cause a price on a new one, will blow you away

    Brilliant ....

    Forgot the bit in red

    Take front wheel off

Remove steering tie rod ends (ball joints) to make it easier

    Remove Stub axle
    Remove top swivel bolts THEN
Remove brake calliper (hang it up on the coil spring with wire)
Undo bolts & remove large swivel oil seal

Remove Top swivel pin .... No need to remove bottom swivel pin / bolts
Remove Brake disc hub with the stub hub assembly as a whole ... place on a block

CV right in front of you

The symptoms I've obversed over breaking the odd CV and witnessing many usually start's with a , "you can;t drive that" followed by lots of engine noise, cheering, heckleing, followed by a BANG, the proceeded by more cheering and heckleing

Oh you didn;t mean "those" symptoms

Yea, click click click when turning close to lock
