It can be done and does fit quite nicely. You need to trim the "wings" that protrude from each side of the console at the front to suite the profile of the heater control panel surround. IIRC you also need to trim the gear lever holes slightly

I fitted one into my 86 RRC that had and R380 and a LT230 so it may be some differences in the install. I trimmed the gear lever holes to suit and them made a plate from ally to replace the rubber mate that covers the top of the console.(the original boots fitted underneath this) I then covered this in marine carpet. It makes a great place to install
switches for assescories.

I also used this same console when i installed the 4hp22 in my 86 model. I had to trim the hole in the ally plate slightly larger to suite the auto shifter but i fitted up a treat.

Did you use the console from the earlier Discos with the radio in the end of it?
I appreciate your response as they look like they should fit but did not want to go buy on and start cutting to fit it will not fit.

I have the centre console from a 94 Disco (94-98 model) without the radio slot and it would need a fair bit of trimming and then it will still not really fit as there would be gaps under the flaps at the front (it splays a lot more then the ones on the earlier discos.
