You might start by removing the heater inlet vents on the windscreen-wiper panel above the bonnet, I don't quite recall how far in you can access from there but it would be a reasonable starting point.

A particularly unpopular Sales Manager at a mining equipment company I once worked for had an unbearable stench in his Commodore company car, so bad that the car could not be driven. Everything inside was pulled out looking for the source. Eventually a plastic bag of fish guts was found taped on top of the glove box under the dash.

Those Yellow blocks they put in urinal trays crushed up and poured into the air grills on the older cars can make the driver's eyes water.

my favourite is a plastic net bag filled with prawns/dead fish/diced snake jammed between the gearbox and floorpan

also fun to pull hubcaps off and chuck a section of roadkill snake between the hubcap and wheel

I found a (hollow) dead rat between the air cleaner and the manifold. Never even smelt it... must have cooked pretty quick! The skin was like leather!

Take the heater out and put replacement unit in is only way.
Then get a ozone unit and pump that in for some time.
    Only way.
