I don't think so.
I wouldn't let either a 3.5 or a viscous transfer get in the way of a purchase.
It isn't hard or really expensive to either change the engine to a 3.9 (I have done mine) or change the transfer case (I have a Disco II one in mine).
Hey All
Just wondering...were there any 3.9 V8 Rangies brought out in Australia that had the LT230 transfer case instead of the viscous coupling crappy one?
I would prefer getting a 3.9 Rangie, but cant be bothered swapping out the viscous TC...

Angus, its a straight swap... will take no more then half a day to do it....
Thanks guys. If I went for a 3.9 which I want to for a bit more oomph, what sort of price are you looking at for a Lt230?
And...if its a half a day jobby...you guys gonna give me a hand?!
Which is easier? The engine swap or transfer swap? I imagine the transfer is cheaper to buy and less things to stuff around with...
Angus
OK I know its predictable but what have you got against a VC.
IMHO they are great.
Mine has done 170KK without a problem, but you have to change the oil.
I will swap the smoothness and quietness of my BW any day for the clunky noisy LT230, for an only guessed gain in hard core 4WD. Mine will go anywhere an equivalent LT230 will.

Thanks Clarkie. I have been thinking of going 4.11s, swapping in the LT230 and popping in some reduction gears while Im at it. Might have to get someone to do that for me though...
Angus
Angus,
Do you have a new toy??????????
