    Classic or HiLine

Hi all, Ive recently purchased an 88 Rangie. After looking at piccies of others Hilines Im wondering if mine is one. What is the difference between an Classic and a Hiline? Mine is 3.5l injected, 4 speed ZF auto, 3 spoke alloy rims, velour interior, rear headrests part of the rear seats. Will post piccies up soon. Thanks to all, Bob H

I thought Hilines had the wood trim. If you search the forum for a thread along the lines of 'which Range Rover' there is a good description of what came with which.

Sorry, forgot to mention the wood trim at the top of the doors and the door handle inserts. So does this make mine a Hiline? Bob

Same same here, I didnt know what a Hi line was till now. Yes, its got a leather wrapped steering wheel as well. Have to ring the insurance co up now and tell them its a Hiline and not a Classic. Worth more now if its a write off. The bestpart though is I only paid ................wait for it..............sitting down.............$500+roadworthy+rego. A bargain, I think. Bob

My understanding is that 'Classic' refers to Range Rovers of the 2 and 4 door bodyshape from ?1970 to 1994 with the round headlights as opposed to the P38 and L322 models.

Hiline refers to an upmarket specification (as opposed to 'standard'), later superceeded by the Vogue badge. This involves manual or auto transmission (3 speed auto before 1986, ZF 4speed from 86 onwards) wood trims, power windows, rear headrests, front and rear arm rests, alloy wheels, rear luggage cover and front spoiler with foglights. Sounds like you have a Hiline.

Sure does, you described my veh down to a "T". Except its missing the rear luggage cover unless its hiding in the tailgate somehow. Bob
