    removing arm rest

Hey guys, i'm wanting to fit seat covers to the front seats of my rangie. It has 86 model seats with the adjustable arm rest. I want to keep the arm rest so i'm thinking i'll removes the arm rest, fit the cover, cut a small hole for the pole the rest swings on then re-fit the rest. I can't work out how to removes the rest. Any ideas?

    Wind the backrest .... forward
At the back of the seat is a hard plastic backing ... 4 screws under it .. undo em
2 screws on the top @ the sides under the cloth (Hidden) ... peel the cloth to reveal em ... undo them
    Take plastic backing off
Cloth is held on to seat frame via plastic rail clip ... release them
Shove hand under the cloth down the side towards the hinge of the arm rest
You will feel 2 13mm bolts ... undo them

    Arm rest falls off

All work is done sitting in the rear seat position ..... & working at the back of the front seat

    Have fun

Thanks for that Mike, was very helpful!
I didn't end up reatatching the arm rest. But I now have the seat covers on and the seats back together.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... You went to the effort of doing it right ... and you didn't put em back on ...

Was it because the arm rest gap to the seat, is too close to the covers & jambs up???

The fix for that is .....
All you have to do is add a "5mm to 10mm thick oversized nut" on those bolt / brackets to space it out (armrests) further to clear the new covers ... There is plenty of excess thread on those bolts to accommodate the spacer nuts

Cut a neat hole in the covers to install / insert the arm rest hinge bracket

I did this and have installed Sheepskin covers & it works a treat

You can't drive a RR without the arm rests !!!! ... There King seats

Now do it properly .... It's a Range Rover

Our seat cover fitted Ok without removing the armrests, had to juggle the cover and raise and lower the arm a few times until everything lined up, once on the back rest the base was a easy.
