    Radio code and joy stick

I have had the battery off and I cannot remember the keys to input the code to reactivate my radio. I have the 4 digit code. Please could someone tell me which other keys I need to press and in what order?
Also, is there a way to fix crackling in the 4 way speaker control (the wee joy stick thingy)?
    Thanks

Have you got a photo of the front of the unit?

It looks to be a Eurovox unit.

To fix the joystick you need to pull the unit out by sticking drill bits or coat hanger ends etc into the two holes either side of the faceplate (or the keys if you have them). This should release it with a bit of wriggling and you can pull the unit out by grabbing it by the cassette hole at the same time.
Then remove the lid and spray WD-40 or similar into the joystick unit. Wiggle the joystick through its full movement and all should be well.

As for the code it is possible that with the lid off top and bottom (or dismantled if it has no bottom cover) you will see some solder tabs with some linked and some not linked. If you remove all the solder links there will be no more code. This goes for a Fairlane/LTD radio of similar vintage and looks so may or may not be the case here. But certainly give it a go.

Edit: Sorry I see you have the code but don't know how to enter it. It will either be using the radio preset numbers or pressing Band and maybe vol up and down or tuning up and down or something similar that I forget. Press buttons and see what happens.

Go to Repco or DickSmith and buy a spray can of "Circuit Board cleaner" $10 ...Gets rid of all the dirt and grease that is causing the crackling

The other use for this product is, StartyaBastard for motors that don't wanna fire up .... so it's a useful / versatile product to keep in with your tool kit & recovery gear

I'll quote from the Eurovox instruction card from my 88RR:

    1. Turn ignition switch to Accessories. Turn the unit on; digit 1 will appear in display.
    2. Via the 6 memory address buttons, enter code (the 4 digit code you have). As each digit is entered, in turn, each digit will appear in the display.
    3. If the code is entered correctly, the unit will operate after a 5 second delay. (blurb about programming stations follows, then..) If after 5 seconds delay the unit does not operate, the digit 2 will appear in the display.
    4. enter code numbers again; If after 5 second delay te unit does not operate, digit 3 will appear, indicating code numbers are to be entered again.
    5. If incorrect numbers are entered a third time, the display shows ---- as an indication that the unit must be left with power connected for 1 hour before codes can be entered again.

Hopefully steps 1 to 3 will be all you need.
