    RRC central locking

up until a few weeks ago I used to be able to lock all doors from the drivers side door ( central locking ) , this is no longer the case , now I have to individually lock all the doors , have I accidentally gone through a magic combination and disabled the central locking?

Is there a dedicated fuse just for central locking ?I haven't looked yet , but besides all the obvious what else could it be. I'm about to purchase a remote key and program it for ECU to be able to lock all doors and secure the car with factory fitted alalrm ( thanks Scouse ).

    Hi Khos

Instead of using the key to lock .... Open the drivers door and push the lock button down
All the locks should activate (Lock)
Then hold the (outside) handle out ... and then close the door

    Works for me .....

If I press the drivers door lock button down nothing happens ( in terms of central locking with other doors ) this is why I have to individually lock all the doors. I'm going to have another squeeze today to see if I can get it going .

So no power to the actuators??? .... Can't help on that

    On my 1990
Theres a black box (Ciggy packet size) with a thin (aerial) black wire hanging off it ... located above the steering column / up under the dash / near the heater box

This is the remote receiver central locking box ... can't help about how it's wired

Does the alternator light have a "slight glow" to it at night ...that gets "slightly brighter" as you turn on the headlights??

That is for the remote - that is not this problem because it won't lock the other doors when the driver's door is locked (button or key).

There is another box (some are black plastic, some are shiny aluminium), in the same area for the central locking - this is the central locking ecu.

I would look in the drivers door first, for poor connections/wiring or motor/solenoid unit. Then if all is well go to the other doors.

Khos, try locking the car using the passenger side key lock.
While looking up the programming sequence for your RR, I think I saw a mention that it operates off either front door.

If it does work this way, then the problem is probably in the drivers door actuator.

Check the fascia fuse box too - I'm sure there's a CDL fuse in there.

    Yep. C7 15A Fuse.

Nope, it won't operate either from Driver's side door or Passenger side door.

If neither actuator is working you must have no power. Unusual for both to die at once. I cant remenber where things are on them or what colour wires do what ever sorry. The locking does work on the 90 here so my be able to compare it for electrical side.

I ended up buying a set from auto barn for the 89 model. Was less frustrating than chasing faults etc. Has the extra actuator in the drivers for the keyless entry. Seems to work the rear window actuator OK. Only problem I ever have at times the linkage can come out of adjustment on the keyless actuator. Has been very good otherwise.
