    Range Rover Portals?

Has anyone ever tried the Marks Adapters Nissan portals on a RRC?
I understand you would end up around $20k after install and diff purchase

Would Volvo be the go? if so where would one start to find them these days? What could one expect to pay for a set of Volvo's?
Does MR automotive have any plans to make bolt on sets if the orders where there?

Trailcraft,in Sydney used to do some unimog mods I've heard, but i understand Volvo's are the go due to suitability.
KLR have put a set of Maxi Portals on a Disco, looked tuff.

I was looking into this idea for my 120". I would have used the portaled Nissan diff as would be more readily available and engineerable with brakes and steering. I just cant come to terms with spending around 25k on a 8K truck
I think the best way would be portaled 80 series cruiser rear and Nissan front on the Rangie as the drive shaft is offset on the 80 diff.

Your going to turn this Rangie of yours into a money pit soon Should be fun though

Yeah, I cant recall the name, but his shop is Tractiv Force or something in Sydney - they do really good quality Mog imports. Also try Rob (Patrol42 I think) or Craig (Gonzo) who are in with the importers.

IF you check out the comp Rangies, I noticed on the weekend that the the Red Bitch is now on Mogs also

    Yes.

$20k is about right. They are quite a bit wider than the rangie body, and as noted by others Nissans have a centred rear diff.

If you are in NSW, be aware of implications of VSI 50, which has not gone away and IMHO will come in, in a slightly modified form.

Volvo portals are good size for a rangie. Similar track, same flange for driveshafts, and relatively easy to fit. Problems include: drum brakes, 6:1 ratio is very hard to find, even 7:1 is hard to get now. Track rod is a problem for engineering. Some parts are hard to get, but commonly required parts are available, including stronger cv's.

No idea what MR will do - best to contact them.

Found this on an overseas forum, it was a response from portal tek in regards to bolt on rover portals

I wonder how they are going with this as it has been a year since this was posted up!

I wanted to follow up with you since we are starting some new projects for the new year that are very close to what you asked for back in September.
We are offering individual portal boxes that could be adapted for use with certain rover axles. This should provide a cost effective option for the European crowd.
We are also offering a bolt in defender/RRC crowd that should not raise any MOT eyebrows.
Hopefully this helps. Let me know if there is any other questions I can answer for you.
And check out the new online store. Any purchases made by the end of the year entitle you to a 5% off coupon on your next purchase. Could help with the budget for a box ends next year.

Considering they seem to be made of Unobtainium I'd say whatever the seller wants for them. Quick search results in anywhere between 7K to 10K for a set, old prices though.
